Getting Started

Do I need a waiver?
Yes. Everyone in the building (climbers and spectators) must complete a waiver once per year. Save time by signing online before you arrive.

What’s the check-in process?
Sign in at climbingroots.portal.approach.app, grab your personal QR code, and scan it at the front desk each visit.

I’m brand new—can I boulder here?
Absolutely. We’ll provide a quick orientation covering falling safely, pad awareness, and gym rules.

Do I need a reservation?
No reservation is required for general climbing. Classes and group events must be booked in advance.

What should I wear or bring?
Wear athletic clothing you can move in.
Climbing shoes are required (rentals available). Chalk is available.

Safety & Rules

Do you offer top-roping or belaying?
No. We are a bouldering-only facility—no ropes or belaying.

How high are the walls and how do I come down safely?
Walls are up to approximately 16 feet. Down-climb whenever possible. If dropping: fold your arms across your chest, land with bent knees, and roll onto your back. Never put your arms behind you.

Where can I walk or stand?
Keep fall zones clear at all times. Do not stand, sit, or place bags on pads beneath climbers.

Can I climb barefoot?
No. Climbing shoes only.

What are the chalk rules?
Liquid chalk, chalk socks, and loose chalk are allowed. Please keep chalk use tidy and brush holds after climbing.

Are photos or videos allowed?
Yes, personal photos are welcome. Please respect others’ privacy and stay off the pads while filming.

What is your policy on drugs or alcohol?
Climbing while impaired is not allowed. Staff decisions regarding safety are final.

Kids & Families

Is there a minimum age to climb?
All ages are welcome. A waiver must be completed for all participants, including minors.

What are the supervision requirements?
Climbers under 14 require active, one-to-one supervision in climbing areas. Supervisors must stay off phones and off the pads.

Are strollers or toys allowed on the pads?
No. For safety, strollers, toys, and sitting on pads are not permitted.

Do you host birthday parties or school groups?
Yes. Please email contact@climbingroots.com for information and booking.

Facility & Amenities

Do you rent climbing shoes?
Yes. Youth through adult sizes are available.

Can I bring food or water?
Water is allowed. Food is permitted in the lounge area only. Please keep bottles off the pads.

Do you have lockers or showers?
Yes. Lockers and showers are available. Please bring your own lock if needed.

Are there rules for the yoga/fitness area?
Wipe down equipment after use. Scheduled classes have priority. No one under 14 is permitted in the weight area.

Climbing & Route Setting

How do climbing grades work?
Problems are labeled from V0 (easiest) upward to more advanced grades. Climb at your level and warm up thoroughly.

How often are routes reset?
New problems are added weekly. Each wall section is refreshed approximately every five weeks.

Can I request a route?
Yes. Submit requests at the front desk. Our setters review submissions weekly.

Memberships & Passes

What’s the difference between a day pass and a membership?
Day passes include all-day access with re-entry.
Memberships include unlimited access plus additional perks.

Do you offer student, military, or teacher discounts?
Yes. Please bring valid ID and ask at the front desk for details.

Can I freeze my membership?
Yes. Minimum freeze length: [1 billing cycle]. Email contact@climbingroots.com or call (865) 381-4445 before your billing date for assistance.

How do I cancel my membership?
Email contact@climbingroots.com or call (865) 381-4445 at least 2 days before your renewal date to ensure we see the email. In-person or phone calls work best!

Do you sell gift cards?
We do not sell gift cards, but punch passes can be purchased as gifts.

Classes, Coaching & Events

Do you offer classes or intro sessions?
Yes. We offer Intro to Bouldering, movement clinics, yoga, and more. Book in advance through the portal or ask staff for assistance.

Is private coaching available?
Yes. Head to our website and fill out the Private Coaching Form. We will contact you shortly after with more information!

Do you host competitions or community events?
Yes. Follow our Instagram climbing.roots and check our website events page for upcoming competitions and community events.

Accessibility & Emergency Information

Do you offer accessibility accommodations?
Yes. We welcome adaptive climbers. Speak with the front desk about spotting, pad access, or route selection support.

Is there first aid or an AED onsite?
An AED is located near the front lobby. Please report all injuries immediately.
